Faith is something that we can spend a lifetime exploring, and never fully figure out! It’s always growing, being shaped by God through our experiences and encounters with others! At Peace Lutheran Church we offer several great ways to continue to grow in your faith with the support and fellowship of the community and Pastor!
Missed Cues- Exploring controversial Bible texts and their meaning in their original context
The Bible is an amazing book, written over the course of thousands of years in and for a context very different then our own. What might have been the plain and simple meaning of the text to someone during the Babylonian Exile or during the life of Jesus may not be simple or plain to us today. We often miss cues that the authors of the Bible used to teach people about God, and in doing this, we may miss the point of the scripture. Pastor Megan invites you to join her for a six week exploration of some of these texts and the impact they have on our understanding of some important areas of cultural controversy this summer! There will be opportunities to attend each session, an in person meeting at the church on Sundays at 12 (feel free to bring your lunch) or an online meeting Mondays at 6:30pm. The Monday session will be recorded and posted on our YouTube channel and website for those who can not join the study live.
Here are the Dates and themes for each of the sessions.
Week 1 July 14th / 15th – Creation, Rapture, and the End Times
Week 2 July 21st / 22nd – Judgement, Justice, and Salvation
Week 3 July 28th /29th – Men, Women, and Gender Roles
